2021 Annual Meeting and 5th Shenzhen-Japan Entrepreneurs Forum

On the afternoon of Wednesday 24 November 2021, the Association held its 2021 annual meeting at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. A group photo was also taken for the 5th Shenzhen-Japan Entrepreneurs Forum, and a traditional sake-barrel opening ceremony marked the hopes for the year ahead.

Annual report

President Jiang Feng said that, although repeated waves of COVID-19 made exchange difficult, the Association had resolved to keep delivering results. He highlighted four areas:

  • Information: close contact with the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Affairs Office to pass the latest information to members, and encouraging members to follow Japanese media coverage of Shenzhen and explain it to Japanese business leaders
  • The Shenzhen innovation competition: in the 5th international competition, three Japan projects reached the finals, and in the new bounty challenges Japan teams won two of the three top awards contested by teams from nine countries
  • Partnerships: an online Chinese painting viewing for the Mid-Autumn Festival with the Anhui associations in Japan, co-launching a Belt and Road forum with the Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang chambers of commerce in Japan, and supporting the 4th Air China Cup Chinese speech contest
  • Business results: through the Association's introduction, Japan's Zann Corporation group was listed on the Qianhai OTC market in Shenzhen

Tian Changhao, Chief Representative of the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Office in Japan, presented the listing plaque to Zann Corporation, with President Jiang Feng and Executive Vice President Weng Daokui among those celebrating. It is one of the Association's concrete achievements in helping Japanese companies raise funds and grow their business in Shenzhen.

Vice presidents' remarks

Vice President Chen Jianzhong noted that the Association had united its members and achieved new results while many activities were on hold, and thanked the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, members and partner organisations. Vice President Diao Xu recalled taking part in five consecutive Shenzhen innovation competitions, including as a judge, and said the commitment to Japan-China technology exchange would not change. Participants resolved to achieve even more in the coming year.
